Fyrepower follows a strict hydrant flow test procedure, following the Australian hydrant flow test requirements. The Australian standard 2419.1-2005 states that fire hydrants should have a residual pressure of 150- 200 kPa and a water flow of 10l/s.
The first step we take is informing the local authorities of a scheduled fire hydrant booster testing or fire flow test. On the day of the test, we start with a single hydrant flow test before moving on to the next one. The process starts with closing all valves leading to the hydrant so that no water flows from it. Next, we open the hydrant and attach a pressure gauge to the outlet.
We increase the water flow until the pressure within the hydrant stabilises. Our experts will then take water flow rate and pressure readings. We then analyse the results and highlight any issues or areas of improvement.
